SUPERLOT

SUPERLOT is located in Baltimore, Maryland adjacent to the East Baltimore Men’s Center. The project was commissioned as part of the exhibition RE:Location at the Contemporary Museum, in December of 2006. SUPERLOT was built collaboratively with students from the Maryland Institute College of Art’s Super Pride Studio and the project was completed and installed on site in June of 2007.

Operating as a “recreational” sculpture, SUPERLOT is a public structure for the community of East Baltimore, and specifically the clients of the East Baltimore Men’s Center. The director of the Men’s Center, Leon Purnell, requested a new piece that would encourage “physical activity” and “relationship building” amongst the community. The project was lead by these directives, and has since been sited in an underused parking lot near the Men’s Center. Please contact the East Baltimore Men’s center for more information on this project.
