The municipalWORKSHOP is grassroots creative laboratory and a division of M12. We are dedicated to the creation and facilitation of contemporary public art projects, which cover a wide spectrum of disciplines, configurations, and locales. We work in collaboration with municipalities, community groups, and community members in hopes of creating more creative and dynamic cities and townships.
Our projects have been supported by the Contemporary Museum, Maryland Institute College of Art, University of Tennessee, University of Georgia, Delaware Center for Contemporary Art, Michigan State University, the John Michael Kohler Arts Center, Tobotipe Incorporated, the Auburn University School of Architecture, Lakeshore Technical College, Indiana University, the Center for Land Use Interpretation, the Soap Factory, Pasadena City College, the Atlanta Contemporary Art Center, the Coleman Center for Arts and Culture, Alabama Power Foundation, Alabama State Council on the Arts, the NEA, and others.

In collaboration with Tobotipe, Inc., the Sheboygan County Health and Human Services Dept, and local citizens, the municipalWORKSHOP operates an exhibition, event, and project space. Located in an 80,000 square foot warehouse, the space is utilized to promote local, regional and national creative endeavors that are in line with the overall mission of the municipalWORKSHOP. Finished works and projects are often installed in the EBCO Experimental Workshop Museum. Works are presented alongside the 64 workshops, studios, and businesses that occupy the EBCO complex. If you are interested in applying to exhibit or complete a new project at the EBCO site please email info@municipalworkshop.org.

The municipalWORKSHOP has an ongoing partnership with the City of York and the Coleman Center for Arts and Culture in York, Alabama. Mayor Carolyn Mitchell-Gosa, the York City Council, Coleman Center Board of Directors, the City of York Public Works Department, and the municipalWORKSHOP advisory group are all integral components in the planning and realization of Public Art projects at the York, Alabama Site.
